The days are finally cooling down, the clouds have gathered, and God has blessed us with an abundance of rain with more on the horizon. I enter this new season with expectancy. I’m stepping into the unknown.
I live in the middle of farm land, so as I watch the natural world around me literally slow down and begin to prepare itself for a time of reset, I’m living the same thing in my own life.
I’m entering a season of waiting and preparation. For what? I don’t know! That has been the hardest part. I’m learning to trust Him to a whole new level. I’m learning to prepare myself just to be ready for whatever He has in store. Some doors have been closed, and others have not yet opened. I’m learning to live peacefully in the hallway.
Patience is not a virtue that comes naturally to me. But God! But God has great plans. But God is watching to see how I handle this period. But God is waiting for me to learn the things I need to in order to be prepared for what He has in store. I know His plans are greater than mine, and so my heart rests easy. Isaiah 55:8-9, “ For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
So, as I watch the earth around me settle into its season of rest, I’m settling into mine. I’m learning to rest fully in Him. Proverbs 3:5-6, “trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
